Punk Rock Forever!

Anarchy for the Music Industry

For me, I am deeply in love with the Punk Rock genre as it makes me feel ecstatic and full of energy to go through any day without even a sense of sadness. Punk is love, punk is life! The main idea or agenda of Punk is anti-establishment which means we want to overthrow the unfair treatment by the government. Every country has their own legion of Punks waiting for a change and wanting a better future for the nation. They strive for anarchy. The appearance of Punks are always looked down upon by the society as mostly they are violent and dressed in an outrageous fashion; mainly a spiked Mohawk, torn shirts, leather jackets and pants along with leather shoes having spikes.

There are lots of subgenres of Punk. You can look it up here.

Among my favourite Punk bands are:

1. Misfits 2. The Sex Pistols

3. Dead Kennedys

4. Ging Nang Boyz

5. The Ramones

6. Black Flag

7. The Exploited

8. Bad Religion

9. A.C.A.B

10. Green Day

This is an anthem known by a majority of Punks everywhere, "Anarchy in the U.K" by The Sex Pistols:

Punk really influenced me to be a tough and rebellious individual in life; not to take any unfair treatment from anyoe especially from the government. Life is tough, thus Punk makes us tougher. Surely the society would always treat Punks like criminals.

An example of a local Punk band from my country, Malaysia is A.C.A.B. They have influenced a lot of youths and waking them up to fight for their right. Punk unites a lot of people who feel opressed by the people above them; usually the government. They want to overthrow it, and the police are of course not in good terms with it.

Another good band is the Dead Kennedys. Even their name has caused a controversy in the US during their early days regarding the assasination of the particular president, John F. Kennedy. The Dead Kennedys or the DKs really make good political based music. I really like their song "Holiday In Cambodia". That song is about the brutality and violence that the Cambodians have to endure during the tyranic rule of Pol Pot. Even the music composition of it is top notch. Have a listen here.

Above all, I am truly interested in Punk Rock because of the ideology of not being in control by an unfair government. A chance to find a better future! Punk is not dead!
